Curious Engineering #04 | The Venturi Effect and Flow Measurement

Curious Engineering

Instructor: Dr. Süleyman Burak ÇELİK

Why does static pressure fall when water accelerates through a narrowing pipe? Explore the Venturi effect with an animated 3D cutaway and synchronized speed and pressure readings. Our example: diameter 80 → 40 mm, speed 2 → 8 m/s, gauge pressure 80 → 50 kPa. The ideal horizontal water flow is about 10.05 L/s. Real-device losses are distinguished from ideal pressure recovery.
