Electronics Basics #22 | JFET Fixed Bias: Calculate, Then Check

JFET Transistors and Bias Circuits

Instructor: Dr. Süleyman Burak ÇELİK

Find the DC operating point of a fixed-bias JFET by reading the wiring, calculating a candidate current, applying KVL and checking the operating region. Academic clarification: the original 16 V, 2 kΩ circuit gives a saturation candidate of 5.625 mA and 4.75 V, but 4.75 V is below the required 6 V threshold. We preserve the original values and explain why that assumption fails. A clearly separate 20 V design comparison gives 8.75 V across the transistor and passes the ideal saturation check. Real breakdown and power ratings still matter.
