Circuit Theory #13 | The Supernode Method — Worked Examples 2 and 3
Nodal Analysis MethodInstructor: Dr. Süleyman Burak ÇELİK
Thirteenth lesson in the Circuit Theory series. This lesson continues the supernode method with two fully worked examples. Example 2 combines one ordinary node with one supernode: - Write an ordinary KCL equation at VA - Write one boundary KCL equation for the supernode around VB, the 6 V source, and V1 - Add the source constraint VB - V1 = 6 - Solve the system to get V1 = 6 V, VB = 12 V, and VA = 60 V Example 3 uses one top node with two voltage-source branches: - Write the source constraints VA = V0 - 30 and VB = V0 - 20 - Apply KCL to the whole supernode boundary - Solve 19V0 = 380 - Final answers: V0 = 20 V, VA = -10 V, and VB = 0 V The main idea stays the same: - Count only currents that cross the supernode boundary - Add one constraint for each ideal voltage source inside the boundary - Keep writing ordinary KCL equations for nodes outside the boundary Covers content from TR lectures d21 and d22.
